Marlene Bidelman’s practice in the Chattanooga office of Baker Donelson is centered around business – she handles things like commercial real estate, business transactions and financing, and asset-secured lending. But when it comes to pro bono, Marlene handles matters of the heart. Like a number of our Chattanooga lawyers, Marlene devotes some of her pro bono time to the Orange Grove Center. Orange Grove is a non-profit organization that provides services to people with developmental disabilities and their families, and has long been the beneficiary of pro bono services from our Chattanooga office. Much of Marlene’s pro bono time last year, though, was spent handling an adoption. The two year old boy’s biological father had never been in the picture, and his mom’s husband wanted to be his real dad in every possible way but had no resources to make it happen. With Marlene’s help, father and son both got their wish. (more…)
